FORMER INDIAN PRESIDENT PRANAB MUKHERJEE PASSES AWAY

On Monday (31st August 2020) former president of Indian and Bharat Ratna Pranab Mukherjee passed away as announced by his son Abhijeet Mukherjee. He was 84 years old and had been in a state of septic shock due to an infection in his lungs. Today, the hospital authorities had informed of his detonating health

Mukherjee, had earlier this month itself undergone brain surgery in the national capital at the Army Research and Referral hospital.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, payed homage to the former president and tweeted : ““India grieves the passing away of Bharat Ratna Pranab Mukherjee. He has left an indelible mark on the development trajectory of our nation. A scholar par excellence, a towering statesman, he was admired across the political spectrum & by all sections of society”.

Pranab Mukherjee had quite a political career as he served in the cabinet of numerous PMs of the country and had served as a member of Parliament seven times. He namely worked under three PMs – Indira Gandhi, Narasimha Rao, and Dr. Manmohan Singh.

He has severed in the Congress Working Committee for twenty-three years and was the first to become the General Secretary of the party in 1988.

He stands to be the only finance minister who happened to have presented budgets before and after the 1991 economic reforms. He was elected in the office president in the year 2012 and as Rashtrapati Bhavan’s flag is half-mast we can surely not forget his efforts and bold decisions that helped India shield its economy after the 2008 global economic crisis.

Pranab Mukherjee championed the cause of the liberalization of trade and his impact on the country shall never go undermined.
